On my pelagic trip off El Salvador on 2nd July, we saw a single
bird, which was the first recorded for the country. None were
seen on my pelagic trip off Guatemala on 11th May. Jehl saw
three birds on 12th April about 60 miles off Guatemala. Jehl
cites Murphy (1958) as having taken two specimens off Baja California
and having seen the species frequently to the south, so it is
likely that they are regular, but uncommon, in our region.
