Striped-breasted Wren

Thryothorus thoracicus

This species was only recently seen for the first time in our region. According to information on birdinghonduras.com (which included a photo of the bird), Robert Gallardo and Dennis Beall saw and photographed a pair on 20th March 2004 in the Sutawala Valley. This is in Honduras, right next to the frontier with Nicaragua. Brewer gives this species as ranging along the Caribbean slope from the southern part of Nicaragua to about halfway down Panama. I have still not seen this species in northern Central America.
