According to Howell and Webb, this is a common to fairly common
resident of the rainforest and edge on the Caribbean slope.
Bonta and Anderson describe them as common in Honduras and Land
describes them as fairly common in Guatemala, as does Beavers
for the Peten, though my only sightings in our region were around
Las Marias in eastern Honduras. I have seen many in Costa Rica
and they can be quite conspicuous at times, so I have no reason
to account for my lack of sightings. Although I have never seen
one at Tikal, I have met many birders there who have seen them.
