Ruddy Quail-Dove

Geotrygon montana

Tom Jenner
Howell and Webb describe this species as fairly common to common on both slopes, though their map shows it as absent from the drier Pacific slope of Honduras and most of El Salvador. I have still only seen a two individuals, one of which was at Pico Bonito and the other was at Las Marias (which we trapped in a mist-net). I may have missed others, but I get the impression that this is quite an uncommon bird in the region.
