Gray
Silky-flycatcher
Ptilogonys
cinereus

This species is found only in the highlands of Mexico and Guatemala.
They are occasionally seen in pairs or small flocks, but I have
also seen large flocks feeding at fruiting berry trees. Their
distinctive long, black-and-white tail makes them easy to identify
as they fly overhead. I have seen them most often in edge habitat
close to pine and cloud forest. I have seen them at Aguas Amargas,
Biotopo del Quetzal, San Carlos Sija, Santa Maria de Jesus,
Volcan Agua and Volcan Chicabal. The Gray Silky-Flycatcher has
never been recorded in either Honduras or El Salvador. However,
Howell and Webb describes how they wander to different habitats
in winter, so there must be a reasonable chance that a flock
could wander to either country, as both borders lie close to
this species’ range.
