Crane Hawk

Geranospiza caerulescens

Tom Jenner
Howell and Webb give the status of this species as an uncommon to fairly common resident along both slopes, though absent from much of the interior except in the Peten. However, I get the impression that this is a very uncommon species indeed and I have still only ever seen them once in the region, which was beside the Rio Platano when I was travelling to Las Marias. I believe that the only known site in El Salvador is Nancuchiname. Bonta and Anderson describe them as uncommon in Honduras and Land describes it as Rare in Guatemala.
